Close-Up:

  • Choosing to become a professional musician is challenging and requires a huge commitment, lots of hard work and patience and a bit of luck. However, if music is your passion, pursuing a career as a musician is one of the most gratifying things there are in terms of time and energy spent.
  • Apart from being a singer, I have a B.A. in fine arts and I play the double bass. While each of these three disciplines is distinct, they are all interconnected. As I studied each field I gained a different perspective, and can apply what I learn in each one to the other two. The double bass has a special role to play in an orchestra, but singing is unique because the performer is the instrument. That is why if I had to choose one instrument, it would be singing. It is when singing that I feel happiest and where I connect with the essence of the music.
  • The person who has influenced me the most as a musician is, without any doubt, Gloria Fabuel, my voice teacher. It was with her that I discovered the essence of music, of singing, interpreting and expressing feelings, that is, everything that goes beyond reading the notes on the score.
  • When I step onto a stage, I feel many things: I’m nervous and have an adrenaline rush; I’m happy and scared at the same time; then I feel calm and, above all, I feel the rush of energy that you get when you make music. Performing on stage is the culmination of all your previous work.
  • It’s been three years since Nostrum Mare Camerata’s debut and I remember that day very fondly. We were all so excited and thrilled to have filled the Olympia theater in our hometown. The audience’s enthusiastic applause was contagious: and these are memories I’ll hold dear forever.
